ISCC PLUS is a voluntary certification system for the market of raw materials and products not covered by the RED Directive (on the promotion of the use of energy from renewable sources, Biofuels Directive).
These products include waste and residues, raw materials from renewable energy sources, but also sustainable agricultural raw materials and forest biomass. The benefit of ISCC PLUS certification is that all types of sustainable materials are certified, including biomass, renewable materials and recycled materials. In ISCC PLUS, all raw materials, semi-finished products, products from ISCC EU, ISCC CORSIA can also be certified.
ISCC PLUS accepts ISCC EU certified materials. Acceptance of voluntary schemes other than ISCC requires additional verification and decision by ISCC PLUS. Currently, certification schemes other than ISCC are not accepted by ISCC PLUS.
The ISCC PLUS certification system covers the entire supply chain, from the place of origin of waste and residues to the final manufacturer of products. Among the raw materials accepted by ISCC PLUS we can distinguish: plastic waste, used tires; waste of organic origin; forest biomass; materials from renewable energy sources.
ISCC PLUS certification demonstrates the company’s responsibility towards sustainable development, environmental protection and efficient use of energy.
The first step is to analyze the supply chain and processes of the company, which affect the scope of certification. After determining the scope or scopes of certification, the company must sign an agreement with the certification body and register on the ISCC website. After obtaining a registration number, the implementation process can begin in accordance with the requirements of the ISCC PLUS system documents.
