Types of FSC statements on invoices

What is the FSC statement

An FSC statement is information about the FSC category of the raw material or product with which we purchase it. Several types of FSC statements can be found on the purchase invoice. These are: FSC 100%, FSC Mix Credit, FSC Mix x%, FSC Recycled 100%, FSC Recycled Credit or FSC Controlled Wood.

What does the FSC 100% statement mean?

FSC 100% means that all of the raw material used in the production of the products sold came from a certified forest, managed in accordance with FSC requirements.

What the FSC Mix statement means

There is an admixture of non-certified wood in the FSC Mix statements (Mix Credit and FSC Mix x%). However, certified wood must be assessed by the company for compliance with the definition of controlled wood .

The FSC Mix 70% claim means that the company used 70% of the raw material from a certified forest and the rest was controlled wood. (without FSC certification).

The FSC Mix Credit statement also indicates that the product was made from a mix of certified and non-certified (but controlled) wood, but without indicating the proportion of how much certified wood was used for a particular batch of products. The FSC Mix Credit indicates to the producer how many FSC-certified products can be sold in an amount not exceeding the amount of FSC-certified raw material purchased from the company at the time.

What the FSC Recycled statement means

The statement FSC Recycled Credit or FSC Recycled 100% means that the raw materials used for a specific product were recycled. This means that the raw materials in this category did not come from a certified forest. They have simply been given a second life by the supplier using recycled materials again in the production process.

What the FSC Controlled Wood statement means

The FSC Controlled Wood statement is a category of non-certified wood that meets the 5 criteria of FSC Controlled Wood. Controlled Wood means that such timber is legally harvested. It also means that when harvesting Controlled Wood, the forest manager respects the workers’ rights and the natural values of the forest in question. Controlled timber also means that the timber does not come from sites converted to plantations or other non-forest uses. In addition, no genetically modified organisms are used in a non-certified forest. The FSC Controlled Wood category is used on the invoice in its original spelling. This category can be used for certified production on a percentage or credit basis. Mixing certified and controlled raw materials results in the FSC Mix category (FSC Mix Credit or FSC Mix x%).
